Your wedding should feel like a wedding, not a day spent performing for a camera.
So for most of it, I simply let things happen.
I photograph what I see: the nerves before the ceremony, the looks across the room, your people being themselves, the hugs, the tears, the laughter and all those little moments happening around you while you’re busy living it.
Nothing recreated. Nothing interrupted just for a photograph.
Your story, as it actually happened.
And then there are the portraits.

This is where documentary meets editorial.
We’ll take a little time away, slow things down and create something beautiful.
I’ll find the light, make the most of your venue and give you just enough direction so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
There might be movement. A little romance. Probably some laughing. And occasionally I’ll ask you to do something that sounds ridiculous but looks bloody brilliant.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
That’s my job.
The aim isn’t to make you look like somebody else.
It’s to make you look incredible while still looking like you.

I'M MICHELLE.
I'm the photographer behind Weddings by Michelle Louise.
I love beautiful photographs, but I’m far more interested in beautiful photographs of real people having a bloody brilliant day than creating something that feels perfect for the sake of being perfect.
I’ll know when to stay quietly in the background and when to step in.
I’ll organise the family photographs, help when you need me, straighten something that’s annoying me, find the good light and give you direction when we’re creating your portraits.
And then I’ll disappear back into the wedding and carry on watching.
Because you shouldn’t have to choose between living your wedding and having incredible photographs of it.
You can have both.

My approach is simple.
I observe rather than orchestrate.
The majority of your wedding is photographed exactly as it unfolds, giving you a gallery full of people, emotion, atmosphere and moments you couldn’t possibly have planned.
When a little direction will make a photograph better, I’ll give it.
When something incredible is already happening? I leave it the hell alone.
And when we have those few precious minutes for the two of you, that’s our opportunity to make something a little more considered.
